Absolutely beautiful sculpture! How long does something like this take to finish and do you use a foil core?

Thanks, this took around 7 days. Sometimes I use foil around a wire armature.

Amazing work Dave. I have quite a few creations from Sideshow but your work is unique. Do you have a list of sculpts available for purchase?

A shame these were never seen.
The movement you put into your sculpts makes me so happy. The way those claws fall around the earth, that mouth, those teeth. All comes together so coherently.

Even though it is a rough model it is great at this stage already. I don't even think it would need much more work. This adds a certain feel to it that fits the overall character very well!
Did you make a mold for it?

Thanks very much. I wish we did mold and cast it, but the concept was abandoned when the script cut these creatures out of the movie.

Well, do you still have the original? Making a mold should not be too difficult, despite the fact that there are a lot of details. It is just a matter of cutting it apart in the right places. I will take on molding and casting the first full body sculpture of mine within the next week and this is going to be interesting. However, I did model it while keeping in mind that I would have to make a mold and tried to keep the problems to a minimum... ;)

I actually don't know what became of that. The shop closed down and I'm assuming that my boss may have it still, but I'm not sure.

At least I got those, yes. Perhaps, if I ever run into my boss again I'll definitely ask him about it.

Another piece of great work.

Thank you for being a nice and kind artist by the way; most people aren't. Also, thanks for sharing the clay you use to make such figures.

I'm curious though: Roughly what are the diminsions of this figure?

Thank you for the kind words, and you're right.... some are just plain egotistical jerks. I love talking to other artists like yourself, it gets me inspired to do more creative things and above all, make new friends with similar interests.
As far as the dimensions.... again, I did this so long ago I would have to guess maybe..... 15 inches from head to base not counting the shoulder flags.

If you have any questions concerning materials, just send me a note.

Cheers.

I do love this. And it seems this element hasn't been dropped from the franchise... since the 'leaked' Riddick III script has elements of 'alien warriors vs the Furyans' at the very end as a touchstone to the IV episode...

This is a pretty sweet sculpt. I guess your NDA expired for this? Wouldn't surprise me if Vin Diesel gets another hit movie or two in the next couple of years if he's able to revisit this, seemed like a pretty personal project.
